It’s a tough climate out there, but Shropshire businesses must celebrate their successes – that’s the message from Shropshire Chamber of Commerce.

So the Chamber, along with the Shropshire Star, has now launched the 2011 Shropshire Business Awards, celebrating the best that this strong, resilient, forward-thinking county has to offer.

The UK is still struggling in the grip of the economic crisis, yet Shropshire continues to produce success stories to shine light into the financial gloom.Shropshire_Business_Awards_Image

And those successes are what this year’s awards will celebrate, at a glittering ceremony at Telford’s International Centre on Friday, June 3, with the overwhelming backing of the county’s businesses.

Chamber managing director Richard Sheehan said that despite the difficulties companies face in the wider economy, celebrating success stories is still important to Shropshire businesses, and the ceremony remains a pivotal date in the county’s business calendar.

He said: “Following the overwhelming success of the 2010 Shropshire Business Awards and the astonishing level of national recognition both the event and the participants received, the Chamber and it partners have taken a long hard look at the challenges that the economic climate presents and have consulted with the business community to assess the level of support for a 2011 event.

“I am delighted to advise that the feedback made it very clear that Shropshire must celebrate its business success. Not only was this feedback resounding but offers of award sponsorship have already been pledged.

“The size of this years event will reflect the climate that business faces this year, but with a target audience of 650 people, it will still be a night to remember.”

This year marks the 11th annual Business Awards, and while it will not reach the same size as last year’s spectacular, which saw more than 900 people at the International Centre to celebrate Shropshire’s entrepreneurial spirit, it will nonetheless remain a huge night for Shropshire businesses.

How would you like to find yourself centre stage in front of hundreds of people, collecting an award in recognition of your company, whether for its strength, its green credentials, or its work supporting the local community?

Entries are being welcomed from businesses large and small, with the only stipulation that you must have a Shropshire base or employ people in the county.

Entry is free and you can take part in as many categories as you like. Although the awards are organised by the Chamber of Commerce, companies do not have to be Chamber members to enter.
