As part of the ongoing series of SCE member events we are have arranged for 2 guest speakers to deliver presentations to members, there will also be plenty of time to network and develop local business contacts from the construction industry.
Presentation 1: Steve Bramhill, Director, Wintech Engineering Ltd
Title: Building Façade Testing Systems
Steve Bramhill is a Director of Wintech Engineering Limited; a Telford based UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) Accredited Testing Laboratory. Steve has been with the company for over 8 years and currently runs the Onsite Services Division of the Company as well as undertaking Sales and Marketing activities. Steve was instrumental in the formulation of the Air Leakage Testing Service offered by the Company which is a Regulatory test that is required to be undertaken to all new Commercial and Residential buildings in England and Wales. The test forms part of the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations Conservation of Fuel and Power. Steve’s presentation will look at the importance of Air Leakage Testing as part of the overall Envelope or Facade of a Building whilst taking into account the importance of the quality of installation of other elements of the building such as Curtain Walling, Rainscreen Cladding and Windows & Doors.
Presentation 2: Jon de Souza, Director, Constructing Excellence
Title: Building Information Modelling and Management - what happens next?
Jon de Souza has been with Constructing Excellence for over eight years and is responsible for members’ services within the organisation. He has led the Constructing Excellence BIM(M) Task Group since it was established in 2008 and has contributed to the development of the Government’s Building Information Modelling strategy. Jon will provide overview of BIM, suggest some of the benefits and challenges in its use and outline details of the Government strategy, addressing some of the preconceptions that exist around BIM adoption.
